Corporation Park, Blackburn

Corporation Park is a 20 ha (50 acres) Victorian park in Blackburn, Lancashire. It was landscaped by William Henderson and opened in 1857. The park is now registered by English Heritage as a Park and Garden of Special Historic Interest.

The grounds incorporate a conservatory, erected in 1900 and now a Grade II listed building. Other features include lakes, an aviary, a series of viewing platforms overlooking the town centre, called a Panopticon (which has replaced the historical cannon positions) and a wide avenue, the Broad Walk, flanked by lime trees going east to west. A set of tennis courts and bowling greens are terraced into the hillside. A triumphal archway with flanking lodges marks the main entrance at the southern edge of the park on Preston New Road, from which the landscape rises 84 metres to meet Revidge Road in the north.

The park is currently undergoing extensive landscaping and restoration at a cost of £4.8m.
