Coronation Carpet

The Coronation Carpet is a Persian carpet owned by the Danish Royal Family. It is stored at Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen. It was presented by a Persian embassy to the duke of Holstein-Gottorp in 1639. It was made in the period of Ismail I, the first Safavid ruler (1502-1524). The size is 12 feet, 2 inches by 17 feet, 1 inch. As the name suggests, it is the carpet on which Danish kings are crowned.
The center has a large light red medallian with forty-four cranes and two gazelles. The surrounding yellow landscape depicts blossoming trees and animals arranged symmetrically, with a characteristic dark blue border decorated with arabesques and floral scrolls. [1]
