Coro (non-profit organization)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For the venezuelan city, see Santa Ana de Coro.

Coro is an American non-profit organization that runs a fellowship program dedicated to teaching skills useful in leadership in public affairs to young adults.

The organization was founded in San Francisco in 1942 by W. Donald Fletcher, an attorney, and Van Duyn Dodge, an investment counselor. In addition to San Francisco, independently run organizations under the Coro umbrella exist in New York City, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, and Kansas City.

Contrary to popular assumption that the name refers to a person or the word "core," the name is contrived and refers only to itself.
