Cornhole (Punk Rock Band)

CornHole is one of the very few punk rock/ post punk inspired bands of the Pakistani Underground Scene. Emerging from Karachi, the group initially comprised of Hunain Jawed on vocals/guitars, Ali Kazmi (known for his work with bands like Soul Vomit) on drums/vocals; and Usman Minhas as the bassist. The band is known for their sometimes outrageous behavior on stage, aggressive fan base, humor and controversial song writing.
With a very alternative rock and punk inspired music style, CornHole soon started to get a number of gigs to perform at. From underground gigs and rockfests to schools, CornHole was appreciated all the way, despite their themes of anti-authority and controversial social topics. The band has also been on air both on Local TV and Radio Networks. Usman Minhas left the band in early 2005 and was later replaced by the band’s mutual friend, Hashmat ‘Hash’ Mirza.
CornHole released a demo album called “Punkistan: Chapter 1”, in late 2005 which included a number of controversial and energetic songs. Apart from their originals, the album also included a cover of ‘Man in the Box’ by Alice in Chains, a punk version of a traditional Paki classic called ‘Humma Humma’ of Allan Faqir and a rather funny, ‘Powerpuff Girls Theme’ (which was actually played and sung by the drummer, Ali Kazmi).
In more recent times CornHole was also joined by vocalist/guitarist Juniad Kamran from fellow band Ash *Karachi Based*, to do both guitar parts and vocals for live gigs. CornHole went for a break in mid 2006 and are said to have been working on their second demo album.
