Cornelius van Poelenburgh

Cornelis van Poelenburgh, (c. 1590 - 12 August, 1667) was a Dutch painter of the 1600s.

He initially trained with Abraham Bloemaert. He traveled to Rome where he was influenced by Adam Elsheimer. Invited to London by Charles I of England, he soon returned to his native Holland. He painted mostly small landcapes with mythical or religious figures or passages, in the style of Claude Lorraine.
