Cornelio Saavedra Rodríguez (Santiago 1823 – 7 April 1891) was a Chilean politician and military figure that played a major roll in the Occupation of the Araucanía.
He was the grandson of the Argentine general Cornelio Saavedra. At the age of 15 years he entered the Chilean Army and joined the revolts of 1851 and 1859. He took office as General Commander of the Chilean Navy in 1860, but left the charge that year. Later he was appointed commander in charge of the occupation of the Araucanía during its first phase.
