Cork Celtic F.C. was an Irish football club which played in the Football League of Ireland. Based in Cork, Ireland the club, which had been a successful local club for many years, joined the League as Evergreen United in 1951, a name they would play under until 1959. On changing to Cork Celtic the club's strip changed to black and gold. The club was based in Turners Cross and enjoyed many years of friendly rivalry with their cross-city opponents Cork Hibernians F.C. before that club folded in 1979.

Like other Cork clubs that went before, Cork Celtic's final years were a financial struggle. On-field performances were mirroring the off-field crises too, where a steady decline was noticed from the club's 1973/74 championship winning season to 1979 where the club finished last in the league.

Cork Celtic's days were numbered in the League of Ireland AGM of 1979 when a number of delegates led by Louis Kilcoyne (later to become the President of the FAI) called for the club's expulsion. Cork Celtic were voted out of the League by an 11 to 6 majority despite the emergence of a new committee intent on saving the club.

Following their League of Ireland expulsion, the club's attempts to gain entry to the Munster Senior League were thwarted by the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) who ordered the Munster Football Association not to admit Cork Celtic to the provincial league. In addition, the FAI ended the club's lease on Turners Cross ending any hope of the club surviving.
