Corick

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Corick is a megalithic site in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It includes a stone circle and a stone row. The Corick stone circles and alignments are located 2 km north east of Ballybriest court-tomb.

The Corick linea is associated with the planetary system of Jupiter.[citation needed] It is located with the latitude of 17.8 and longitude of 18.3. (Direction of increasing longitude: west, and ranging in longitude from 0-360 degrees.) Its diameter reaches 1300.0.

Although it is often believed the stone monuments were intentially aligned to serve a greater purpose, the crudeness of the stones means that they could not have been used as advanced astronomical calculators. Their positioning therefore is more likely symbolic rather than functional.
