McIntyre, while growing up, attended Indiantown Middle School and South Fork High School. He then went to Virginia for college and he was signed as a rookie free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles on April 26, 2002, and was waived by the Eagles on August 24, 2002. He was signed to the Eagles' practice squad on December 10, 2002, and allocated to the Frankfurt Galaxy to participate in the 2003 NFL Europe season on January 30, 2003. He was waived by the Eagles on August 31, 2003, and signed by the Cleveland Browns as a free agent on June 16, 2004. He was waived by the Browns on September 5, 2004, and signed to the team's practice squad on September 6, 2004. He played in all fifteen games for the Browns during the 2005 season and started one. Desperate for fullbacks after a Mike Karney injury in the first week of the season, on September 12, 2006, the New Orleans Saints picked him up from the Browns. A few weeks later he was placed on the waiver line, and was picked up by the Atlanta Falcons on November 25, 2006.
