Corey King Beaulieu (born November 22, 1983 in Brunswick, Maine) is a guitarist, best known for being the lead guitarist of Trivium. Beaulieu started playing guitar when he was 14 years old, keen to learn the riffs of Metallica. He began with lessons but quickly progressed to become mostly self taught. One of the first bands Beaulieu listened to was Guns N' Roses
"Guns N' Roses was the first band I ever heard so it got me into the hard rock/metal genre" - Corey Beaulieu[1]
He later progressed to take musical inspiration from bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica and Megadeth.

[edit] Trivium
Along side Matt Heafy, Beaulieu is currently the lead guitarist in Trivium, joining the band before their second album "Acendancy" (2005) as a result of an advertisement on Trivium's website. Beaulieu was the first to respond. Drummer Travis Smith says he had doubts, but when Matt convinced him to let Beaulieu play, he agreed and was totally blown away. Ever since he has joined the band, they have risen significantly in success.
His first influence on the band can be heard in the song "Like Light To The Flies", which he co-wrote with fellow band members. Beaulieu also provides back up vocals, usually screaming. However, when Ember to Inferno (from same-named album) is played live, Beaulieu usually screams/sings the whole song with Matt Heafy singing the chorus. Beaulieu is known for harmonizing with fellow band member Heafy on guitar, a skill heavily influenced by the guitar work of Iron Maiden. Beaulieu is also becoming known for his own aggressive but melodic solos played with an almost clinical accuracy.
"Guitarists Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu excel in contrapuntal fretwork that lends itself to both virtuosic solos and neck-breaking riffs and rhythms.[2]
Trivium recently released their 3rd Album "The Crusade" on October 10, 2006 through Roadrunner Records. In the time leading up to that release, Beaulieu has been relentless in improving and shaping the band's sound and success with his dedication to the fans, both in and out of the studio.
[edit] Roadrunner United
Roadrunner United was a project organized by the heavy metal record label Roadrunner Records to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Matt Heafy was one of the four "project captains" selected. During heafy's time on the project he wrote the track "In the Fire" based on the historic witch trials. The song was specifically designed around the eerie and Powerful vocals of King Diamond, knowing Beaulieu had extensive knowledge of his work, Heafy quickly drafted him in to perform on the track.
Beaulieu can be seen on the Roadrunner United DVD documenting the making of the Roadrunner United album, where he provides sections of the rhythm and lead guitar work, Performing a call and response styled solo along side Matt, Other performers on this track include :-
- - Dave Chavarri - Drums - Ill Nino
- - King Diamond - Vocals - King Diamond, Mercyful Fate
- - Mike D'Antonio - Bass - Killswitch Engage
- - Matt Heafy - Guitar - Trivium

[edit] Guitars
In the past Beaulieu used mainly Jackson guitars such as the King 'V' and DX10D series occasionally using a B.C Rich Warlock and a Blue Ibanez guitar, Until Rita Haney, girlfriend of 20 years to Dimebag Darrell gave him and Matt Heafy each one of Dimebag's famous Razorbacks, and in 2005 were endorsed by Dean Guitars, Beaulieu currently sporting the first ever made red and black Razorback V.
He has also befriended Dimebag's family since his death, and was even invited by Rita and Vinnie Paul to play with Vinnie and Rex for a few songs with the band "Gasoline". Dimebag is also one of his major influences.[3]
