Cool type is a software technology of Adobe Systems to increase the legibility of writings to color LCDs like laptop or TFT monitors to facilitate the reading of longer texts like E-Books. The legibility on CRT monitors is also improved. It's also based on Subpixel technology.

Cool type is comparable with ClearType from Microsoft and Quartz from Apple.
