[edit] Moved Page

I moved the page from Converse (company), to simply Converse. I'm not trying to step on any toes here but there wasn't anything signifigant of Converse, so I took the required steps and just moved it.. if you have any input on this id love to hear it..

Ugh. Someone revert this. Disambiguation pages exist for a reason.

[edit] Article Improvement

  • Infobox: I created a company infobox, however many stats are missing
  • Sectioning: I added sections to the article, and because of that the sections could be maybe fleshed out a bit more.
  • Better Intro: Because I sectioned the article it doesn't have a very strong introduction/ summary; it needs to be fleshed out some too.
  • Wikify: internal links could be cleaned up some
  • Media: There could be more properly sourced images

if anyone has any comments, or anything else to add feel free,

[edit] PK Flyers

I've never heard of PK Flyers being used as a nickname for Cons, did someone mean Converse rival shoe company PF Flyers?
Freddie Freelance

You know what, me either.. I had thought i'd seen it on a page somewhere and included it. Probably just my mistake.. Anyway I removed it.

[edit] Yellow

Does anyone know of a way to speed up the process of "turning yellow"? Snow white new chucks suck, and wearing these for half a year until the white turns brownish from the dirt is terrible...
don't be one of those kids who makes their shoes look old by messing them up themselves, its just stupid, just wear them everyday and they'll look how you want before 6 months, they'll wear in faster that way anyway.

One way is to, apparently, get some green cons and bleach them. Instead of going white they go a perculiar shade of yellow --RoryKillhorn 17:57, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

You can also dive the shoes in coffee. (i'm not sure about using the word dive in this sentence, if wrong forgive me, english isnt my native language) Leo McAllister 03:17, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nirvana

Wasn't it Kurt Cobain who popularised wearing Converse All Stars? Is this worth mentioning?

A pair of converse can be seen in the video for "Smells Like Teen Spirit", so it could be justified in mentioning it in conjunction to the bit about the American rock background that's already in the article, but saying it was solely due to Cobain isn't accurate. Tomtyke 22:10, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Cobain was copying the Ramones and many other bands who'd worn Chucks before him. Heck, even Sha-Na-Na wore Chucks. Freddie Freelance

[edit] inconsistancy

This article states that in 1917 Basketball was only 25 years old it goes on to state that in 1923 'Chuck' Taylor wrote about the first 60 years of basketball. This does not make sense.

[edit] The Fast and the Furious

The article states that Paul Walkers character in The Fast and the Furious' characters name is Brian O'Conner when his characters name is actuall Brian Earl Spilner. [sounds like a serial killers name]

[edit] The long list of people wearing Chucks

It appears almost all (if not all) of the occurances in the Pop Culture list are about Chucks. Should the list be here, or at Chuck Taylor All-Stars? One or two of them are already there, in the article text. --Alynna 20:16, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

I went ahead and moved it. Hopefully that's ok. --Alynna 22:12, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
