Talk:Controversy Surrounding Christian Science
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Several contributors including a mediator have suggested this page be created. For example, Mary Baker Eddy.
I am in the process of outlining, organizing, researching, and writing such as article. Should anyone like to assist, please post your suggestions here or join the discussion at Wikipedia - Christian Science Family of Articles.

Disingenuously, the above is an external link, though it may appear otherwise. To participate requires you provide a name and email address. That's fine if you like it, but it should have been explained beforehand. That being said, I'm on record as encouraging precisely this article provided it obeys the principles of Wikipedia (there's no caveat here, or agenda.) Digitalican 20:40, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Digitalican, no disingenuity or hidden agenda intended. Anonymous posters are welcome and there is nothing that indicates otherwise. The welcome message says, "You may also post messages without registering, although posting anonymously will prevent you from editing your posts." Anonymous posts cannot be edited simply because authorship cannot be verified once posted.
The name of the forum thread is posted as a link here. Perhaps in retrospect, I could have better indicated that the thread is on the Christian Way forum.
It would perhaps be more respectful and more in line with the spirit of Wikipedia to not publish assumptions about intent or false information.
You made the first suggestion (of which I am aware) and created the first link to this page title. What topics do you feel belong here? I'm working on a content analysis of the Christian Way and polling their contributors to develop an outline. --Do go be man 21:18, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, gee. I must be missing something. When I tried to add to the thread your link directed me to, it wanted me to either login or create a profile -- and gave me no other options. What am I missing?
- The first order of business, to my way of thinking, is to move the existing controversy information on the various Christian Science pages to this page. I expect a summarization of "God's Perfect Child," which seems to be the most popular of the books critical of Christian Science, is also in order (I have a copy somewhere and am willing to do that.)
- You probably have more knowledge than most of Christian Science viewed from a fundamentalist Christian perspective. That's something I'm woefully ignorant of. Anything I'd contribute from my perspective would be considered "original research" though I've valiantly looked for such over the years.
- Those are good starts. I'm sure others will chime in as the opportunity presents itself. We can expect push-back from those whose pristime prose is relocated. :)
- It might also be good to have a Christian Science Infobox (which implies a Wikiproject) that ties the Christian Science articles together as a whole -- allowing folks to move easily from one to another. I am nothing, if not ambitous.

My apologies for the difficulty getting into the forum, but thanks for trying. As I am registered user, the interface I normally see is different from that seen by anonymous guests. I logged out and tried the link above anonymously. Do the instructions on the page you see say, "You do not need a login to post a message to this forum. Just leave the fields blank or become a member!"? Thanks, --Do go be man 23:35, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
