Top football county...

Galway have:

  • 9 All-Irelands vs. Mayo's 3
  • 3 Club All-Irelands (Salthill-Knocknacarra, Caltra & Corofin) vs. Mayo's 1 (Ballina Stephenites)

BUT Mayo have:

  • 40 Connacht titles vs. Galway's 39
  • 11 NFLs vs. Galway's 4

So they're roughly equal. EamonnPKeane 13:22, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Original Research

I have tagged this article as having original research, as there is no quantifiable external basis under which top county titles are awarded Fasach Nua 18:21, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

see above , pretty simple (19:00, 13 December 2006 (UTC))—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gnevin (talkcontribs).
Every provincial talk page seems to define this differntly, the calculations seem to include, league, provincial, and All-Ireland championships for both county and club teams, as well as a relative differential used in Munster, with no reference to how the various contributing factors are weighted. If it is not original research, perhaps the easiest thing would be to put a reference to the awarding body for what was listed as top county, and which has now been changed to most successful county. I haven't heard of either of these outside wikipedia, and it doesnt seen to be on the GAA website!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Fasach Nua (talkcontribs).
most successful county eg the county with the most success eg the county in the province who has won the most provincial and all Ireland titles simple(Gnevin 19:55, 13 December 2006 (UTC))
Connacht is the only close provience the others are clear cut (19:56, 13 December 2006 (UTC))—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gnevin (talkcontribs).
So it is the sum of provinicial and all-Irelands titles won. League and club performance don't contribute? and the cups are equally weighted? Fasach Nua 20:10, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Basicly yes, The AI is worth more but this doesnt really apply in most case as Dublin Etc are miles ahead of everyone else (Gnevin 20:30, 13 December 2006 (UTC))
Okay thanks for that! So now I understand how the scoring system is worked out. Now the question is who defined this as the formula for the top county and most successful county, and why are we using this system in preference to a more common measure of success, such as "most provincial titles" and "most all-Ireland titles"? Fine change it (Gnevin 17:58, 14 December 2006 (UTC))
PS i dont understand why couldn't of said this is the first place instead of all this OR and above chat (Gnevin 18:05, 14 December 2006 (UTC))
