[edit] Generosity/money

It is simply not true to say that in all mainline denominations the majority of financial contributions are made by conservative churches. I know this for a fact to be untrue in the Episcopal church. There is a wealth of data that suggest the opposite, that, for the most part, more liberal churches (parishes) in the Episcopal church both receive more money in contributions as a whole, and give more money to the national church office. This is not to say that an expulsion of the conservative wings of Methodism Episcopalianism, Lutheranism or Presbyterianism would not have enormous financial ramifications for their respective national churches; this is obviously the case. Nevertheless, to state so casually, with no source data that it is the conservative churches who are the most important financially is at best groundless; it is probably evidence of bias as well. I found the following on Confessing Church and shortened it there. I don't know if it is an accurate definition. If so then it may be a good introduction for this article:

The Confessing Movement is a neo-Evangelical movement within several mainline Protestant churches to return those churches to what the members of this movement see as greater theological orthodoxy.
