Conway the Contaminationist
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Conway the Contaminationist is an episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog in the third season, in which an elderly man who loves filth takes over the Bagge farmhouse.
[edit] Plot
Outside the Bagge farmhouse, strange pieces of paper fall from the sky. When Courage goes to investigate, he finds that the papers reach 'Live Longer, Live Better'. In the sky is a very old plane with a bad motor with an odd-looking elderly man inside, cackling. The man crashes into the windmill and falls and is taken inside by Courage and Muriel. When he awakes, he reveals his name is Conway and he behaves very oddly. He drinks slime and manipulates the Bagges into making the house filthy, telling them that it is good for their health and will save money on cleaning bills. As time progresses, Conway begins to make the house his own. He expects Courage, being a dog, to appreciate all the filth, but Courage does not. Conway tells Courage to get used to it, and once he's managed to get the house filthy enough, he will call this place home. Courage is not happy about this. Conway repeatedly brings more and more filth into the house until the government block the house from the rest of the world since the stench is so bad. Over time the house is infested with pigs and flies and Eustace and Muriel are in very bad health. Courage can stand it no longer and blows a gigantic balloon, then sucks Conway and all the filth inside using a vacuum cleaner. He ties Conway and the filth into the balloon so they are trapped. With all the filth gone, Eustace and Muriel return to full health. Conway remarks on how it is rather pleasant in there as it is so polluted. Muriel comments on how she hopes Conway can find a place where he can live the way he wants, and Courage releases the balloon so it floats away with Conway inside. As he floats away Conway shouts 'Live more like Conway!'
[edit] Trivia
First appearance of Conway. As with several of the minor characters, he has one major appearance before he degrades into a background character.
Pigs seem to have different intelligences in this show. The pig in this one appears to be like an ordinary pig (bar the ending scene where it is shown with a newspaper), yet Jambon (episode 11 Heads of Beef) appeared to have human intelligence.
It is unknown what happened to Conway after he floated away, but he does appear in a few other episodes as a minor character, most notably the episode 'Aqua-Farmer'.
