Contention, Arizona

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Contention City is a ghost town in Cochise County in southeast Arizona. Only a few foundations now remain of this boomtown, which was active in the days of the early 1880's silver mining made famous by Tombstone, Arizona. The town derived its name from a silver mining claim, over which there was unusual rivalry among the claimants.[1]
