Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes (CHCI)

Since 1988, the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes (CHCI) has coordinated discussions among organizations for the study of the humanities. It boasts a worldwide membership of over 150 centers and institutes.

Its goals for 2007 include encouraging conversations about the relationship between the local and the global in humanistic research. Past discussion topics have included "The Fate of the Disciplines," the relationship between academic and public audiences, the ways in which history represents the past, and the interplay between gender and knowledge.
