The Connestabile Madonna is a small painting by the Italian renaissance artist Raphael. It is housed in the Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg.
Its name comes from the Connestabile family of Perugia who gave the picture in 1871 to Alexander II of Russia.
It portrays the Madonna keeping the Child while reading a book. In 1881, in occasion of a moving to canvas of the picture, it was discovered that in the original version the Madonna contemplated a pomegranate (symbol of the Passion) instead of the book.
