Connacht Tribune

The Connacht Tribune (An Curadh Connachtach) is an Irish newspaper circulating chiefly in County Galway, Ireland.

It was launched on Saturday, May 22, 1909 and has been published in Galway since. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, the paper had an average weekly circulation of 26,457 for the first six months of 2006 [1].

In 1925, the Connacht Tribune stable began publishing the Connacht Sentinel, which was joined in 1984 by the "Galway City Tribune". Since then, the Connacht Tribune focuses mainly on news relating to the county of Galway. Apart from a number of staff journalists, the paper employs a number of reporters around the county. The Connacht Tribune is published weekly on Thursday, the Galway City Tribune on Friday. The Connacht Sentinel is published each Tuesday.

The editor of the Connacht Tribune is John Cunningham, the Galway City Tribune's editor is Mike Glynn and Brendan Carrol is the Connacht Sentinel's editor. The company's CEO is David Hickey.

Traditionally, the paper supported Fine Gael. In recent years, the paper has become less partisan. In 2006 the newspaper [2]purchased Galway's local radio station, Galway Bay FM [3]
