Conformation

Conformation generally means structural arrangement.
- In chemistry, the conformation of a molecule is its structure. In polymer chemistry, it's the three-dimensional shape of the macromolecular chain.
- In molecular biology and biochemistry, a protein's conformation (tertiary structure) is its overall shape as determined by its folding.
- In dog breeding and conformation shows, the conformation is how well the dog conforms in appearance to standards published for a specific breed.
- A horse's conformation is the proportions of its body in relation to one another. Different conformations are desirable for different work that the horse must perform.
- Conformation may refer to the response to societal pressures to conform. See conformity (psychology) and peer pressure.
