A condolence book is used to write a person's thoughts on the passing of someone. After the death of a leading figure, condolence books are often laid out in public places and foreign embassies. The books may later be given to the relatives of the deceased or archived.
The increasing usage of Internet has also led to digital condolence books where one may write their thoughts on-line.
