Computational engineering
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Computational engineering is a relatively new discipline of engineering. It is typically offered as a masters or doctorate program at several institutions. This is not to be confused with computer engineering (related to building computers).
The benefits of using computer simulations in production and research are indisputable, and include more efficient utilisation of resource and cost saving from this increased efficiency. Indeed, in many fields, computer simulation is integral and therefore essential to business and research. Computer simulation provides the capability to enter fields that are inaccessible to traditional experimentation and methods of inquiry. As computers become faster and computationally more powerful, the range of application for computer simulation and modelling has also expanded. Due to extensive advances in the field of Computational Engineering, both in research and knowledge-base, the traditional course of study has become out-dated and obsolete. It no longer serves the needs of internationally diverse students operating in the 21st century, and we therefore propose a new, internationally-oriented, postgraduate course of study
Enrolled Students will be educated in the following areas: Applied Mathematics, Computational Methods, Programming and Modelling.
Future Prospects Graduates will be eagerly sought by technologically-focused firms, especially in the areas of research and development. This program of study aims to instruct its graduates in computer modelling and simulation of technical and natural systems. The graduates, Computational Engineers, will be able to work in advanced fields of technical research and development, and will be engaged in basic research such as
Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
