Compos Mentis is a Danish heavy/melodic death metal band, formed in Vojens, Denmark.
[edit] History
The band started out in 1996, originally as a Metallica jam band. Later, however, in 2000 they released the demo Quadrology of Sorrow, and in 2001 they signed a record deal with Lost Disciple Records. They released their full-length debut Fragments of a Withered Dream in 2003, which was received with good reviews and the album was also voted as the second best release that year in the category "Best Danish Metal Release" at the Danish Metal Awards (DMeA). In addition the band was on a European Tour with Illdisposed the same year. In Septemper 2006 the group's keyboardist decided to quit the band after seven years. This was also the year, where Ken Holst(Bloodsoil, ex-Adversary) joined the band as the new guitarist, leaving Jesper to focus on the vocal duties.
In October 2006 the band began a collaboration with the Danish booking agency, Strange Ears Booking, and a month later Compos Mentis signed a contract with the record label Mighty Music, which will release the second album Gehennesis in the beginning of 2007. The exact dates will be 26th of March in Denmark, the bands' home country, and the rest of the world on the 18th of June
