Compliant is an industrial music band that was formed in Chicago Illinois during early 2002 from the remains of Solemn the Orchestra (David Downs of Xenophobe and Adam Evans of Eeva and Horrorwitz). Compliant's sole member, David Paul Downs has been working to perfect the sound of Compliant while releasing only small portions at a time to the masses. Compliant was featured on a compilation called "Collective Consciousness" with the song, "Wide-Eyed Innocent" (the current re-do of the song is entitled, "I Never Wanted This"). The "band" was given an impressive review (as well did the compilation) in Industrial Nation Magazine in 2004. However encouraging, David went on to pursue his interests in art as a more viable personal expression at that time in his life. He may have set the music slightly aside for awhile, but he never stopped recording. Presently, Compliant is back in the studio refining it's sound and working towards a full length album due out in late 2007.

In April of 2007, Compliant signs with Disonance Recordings. The independent record label, located in Vancouver, Washington describes itself as this:

Disonance Recordings was created in 2001 to give more control of the music to the musicians and less to the corporate entities in the music industry.They were given the power to reach audiences with new sounds and new ideas, but instead choose to dull your senses and dumb your mind so that they can take your dollar and steal your dime. This shift in power means that songs are more true to the artist's original conceptions and equal a higher level of quality of songs. There is no corporate borders that cage an artist into a specific little genera, but instead allows for the artist to create unhindered.

Adam Evans, now president of Disonance Recordings and Resonance Images (the promotional side of Disonance Recordings) had this to say about the sound of Compliant
