Company Ecorcheur

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Company Ecorcheur is more widely known as the Gloucester Household or - when at Warwick Castle - the Warwick Castle Garrison.

Formed in 1991 by Mark Vance, Antony Mills and Nigel Wheeler

This is a friendly and high standard fifteenth century re-enactment group, concentrating on the high medieval period of the Wars of the Roses. The group is primarily a combat group versed in several disciplines, specialising as a bill block - however no distinction is made between 'combat' and 'living history' - they go hand in hand.

The group present a garrison camp in public, with open tents and approachable inhabitants in correct C15th clothing with authentic equipment and usage.

Displays vary from combat drills to answering questions on C15th life, demonstrations of crafts and larger-scale formal social history displays.

They are members of 'The Federation of the Wars of the Roses' and 'Livery and Maintenance'.
