The Communist Party of the Uzbek SSR was the ruling communist party of the Uzbek SSR, and a part of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. From 1989 it was led by Islam Karimov, who in 1991 renamed the party to the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan.
