From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Commonwealth XI cricket team visited India in the 1964-65 season and played one match against the Bengal Chief Minister's XI at Eden Gardens in Calcutta, winning by 1 wicket.

Captained by Colin Cowdrey, the Commonwealth team was very strong as it featured the great Gary Sobers and such well-known players as Brian Close, Lance Gibbs, Mushtaq Mohammed, Basil Butcher, Keith Andrew, Peter Richardson, Barry Knight, Cammie Smith and John Mortimore.

The Bengal Chief Minister's XI was virtually an Indian Test side.
