One-day cricket made its debut at the 1998 Kuala Lumpur Commonwealth Games. This was a one-off event. The gold medal went to South Africa on 19 September 1998, after beating Australia by 4 wickets. Bronze medal went to New Zealand. This has been the only time this event was played at the commonwealth games.
