Commander Dante
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lord Commander Dante is the Chapter Master and leader of the Blood Angels chapter of the Space Marines in the tabletop game Warhammer 40,000.
Dante's armour incorparates a highly ornate death mask beneath his iron halo, called the mask of Sanguinius, which is said to have been shaped to match the fear-inspiring features of Lord Sanguinius, the Blood Angels' Primarch. He is believed to be the oldest living loyal Space Marine at about 1200 years old, with the exception of those sustained by dreadnoughts, stasis or other means.
His armour is a shining gold colour, and is said to be "Like watching a flame of glory pass above the battlefield," when he uses his jump pack to swiftly move across the field of battle. He also wields the inferno pistol, a special melta weapon crafted using knowledge long since lost, making it extremely powerful. Only a great warrior and loyal servant to the Emperor of Mankind such as Commander Dante is permitted to wield such a weapon. His other weapon is an immensely powerful power-axe which he uses to slice through the enemy ranks and cut down any one who opposes the Imperium of Man.
Dante is widely known for his role in the wars for Armageddon. Dante and his Blood Angels led the Space Marine reinforcements to Acheron Hive, where he routed the Orks and captured the heretical Herman von Strab in the Second War for Armageddon. Without the Blood Angel reinforcements, Acheron Hive may well have fallen, and with it, the Imperium's chances of victory. When the Third War for Armageddon started, Dante was too far away to fulfil his pledge to defend the planet. In his stead he sent Brother-Captain Tycho and his battle company. Subsequent to this, little is known about Dante's actions, or that of the Blood Angels Chapter.
[edit] Modelling
Commander Dante may only be included in a Blood Angels army of 2,000 points or more and he must count for at least one HQ. He can have Artificer armour and Terminator honours, and can be fielded with or without an Honour Guard. Dante is often painted gold, and many non-blood angel players often confuse his death mask for his real face.
