Combat is a comic by maverik magnolia published by White wing It is based in the early rennasnce 1597 with references to the age of discovery, middle ages, and crusades. it is centered around nine charicters attempting to kill a demon that has been ravaging across Europe and Asia

Raphael is an orphan and an outcast. He was left on the steps of the Cathedral of Solace by his parents because of his horns and cloven hooves he was born with as they believed he was a demon. The demonic look of the child caused his mother to be burned at the stake. He was adopted by the father Solomon who named him. He was raised by the church to slay the abominations of god’s earth. This was the occupation of the father who raised him. The father was killed on a mission in the orient when slaying a vampire. Raphael then took over the mission of the father. He heard rumors of a demonic presence Rampaging Europe and decided to vanquish this demon.

Alexander is a pirate of the Spanish coast. When Alexander was young his family was in poverty. To pay off this debt Alexander worked at a steel mill 19 hours a day and pick pocketed to earn enough money for his family to survive. In an accident where molten steel was poured on his hands and causing them to be amputated that night the devil visited him. He offered to give him his hands but in 666 years he would go to hell. He also said that for everything Alexander stole one year would be taken from his time. Alexander agreed to help his family. The next mourning his entire family was diagnosed with the bubonic plague. He tried to get a doctor to help but none would. He watched as his family died in agony and it seemed his moral side died along with his family. He then became a thief and eventually a pirate. He has become one of the most feared corsairs of Europe. He has pillaged from many royal cashes, however after a failed attempt at the royal bank of England he was sent to jail for life, but escaped after two and currently has a ransom on his head by the king. Signs appear that his time is becoming short before he gets pulled into hell.

Sila is an archevist in Bombay. She was born into a low class family. When her father noticed she had a thirst for knowledge he saved money to get her a respectable education. One day she found a mysterious library that housed material from the great library in alexandria. She accepted a job and spent many days reading and learned how to use the staff from the material in the libray. one day a man brought in a sword said to have slain a demon. When she held the sword she felt an evil presence. Suddenly her surroundings melted to black. When she woke she felt stronger and faster but something else.

Dante is a famous assassin He was used on the christian side of the crusades purely for the money. He was born in venice italy to a wealthy family he studied art at a young age. However he enjoyed the pampering his parents smothered him so he took a substantial amount of money and ran away. he became an assassin at a fairly early age and soon became the best. and prospered in the crusades.

Laurane lives in a country village in Germany. The village of Lurkin is a small village and even when the continent was advancing it was still in the Dark Ages. When the demon said to have been rampaging across Europe came to her village It took the village by storm. The demon compeltely distroyed the village when the demon came to her house she hid in a room while her father mother and older sisters faught. In fright she backed into a corner of the room and hid behind a curtain peeking out. she felt a prick in her back. when she turned she found two katars (the ones she uses in the story) when she turns around she realises that her sister was in battle with the winning demon. She wants to help her sister but is too afraid to do so. She watches her sister loose. she does not see her die but sink into the ground. Disgusted by her own fear she decides to hunt the demon so no one suffers like her.

In china 1552 Quar Jian was newly married when the eye of a noble fell upon his bride. He decided that she would become his. He accused Quar of Stealing from the treasury. Knowing full well what the noble was doing, he announced the nobles crime in public. But they were dissmissed as rabble of a condemed man. He was sentenced to be not olny imprisoned but chained to the point to which he could not move, for life. He remained like that immoble in the coffin like cell for twenty years slowly thinking about what had happened until he had gone insane. One night he broke out of the chains with the strength of a mad man and killed the gaurd. He went to the castle of the noble where he woke him in his sleep and dragged him to the basement where he chained the noble up. He then punctured his stomach and left him to die. He renamed himself tikitsu and dawned the nobles mask and armor and stole two swords. He became an imfamous thief and murderer.

Motoko was born into one of the richest and most powerful clans in Japan The Kigesaki clan has to live up to very strict parameters of social class. Motoko finds these paramaters to be snobby and unnecicary and tries to remove them constantly. the clan looks down upon her and her parents when she does this so she is punished often because she does not conform to the perfect daughter her parents want her to be. Her grand mother secretly agrees with her and she was very similar to motoko when she was younger. Her grandmother secretly teaches her Iaido. Every Equnox the Clan travels to a shinto shrine for the monks to purify their souls, the youth of the clan do not practice this and wait. Motoko secretly sneaks off to spar with Daitsu. One day on the winter equnox while the clan purifies and Motoko and Daitsu spar the warning bell tolls. In the basement Motoko and Daitsu do not hear the bell and do not realise that they are under attack until a monk warns them. When he warns them the roof collapses on him. when they climb out of the rubble the entire shrine is decimated and everyone is dead. when they look into the distance they see the retreating demon.
