[edit] Hamlets and Place Names

Town of Colonie historian's website lists the following hamlets and places:

"What are the Hamlets and Villages in the Town of Colonie? There are two incorporated villages in the Town; the Village of Colonie and the Village of Menands, as well as several unincorporated, heavily populated areas; Latham, Verdoy, Loudonville, Maplewood, Boght Corners, Maywood, Newtonville, West Albany, Schuyler Heights, Roessleville, Mansville, Lishakill and Stanford Heights."

Currently almost all place names included in Colonie list are labeled as "hamlet". Should this be changed to reflect town historian's list?

Also . . . where in the heck is Mansville (was listed as Mannville on the wiki, I changed that to reflect town spelling)? I can't find any other reference to it anywhere and have never heard of or seen it mentioned.--Gnhn 16:41, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

There is no such hamlet in the Town of Colonie as Lishakill. People who drive on Central Ave. (NY Route 5) who see the sign that says "Lisha Kill" sometimes think it is a community sign heralding the entrance to a hamlet of that name. It is a sign marking the road crossing the Lisha Kill (creek). Apparently the town historian does not know geography. Mannville is west of Watervliet and north of Schuyler Heights, taking the last turn off of Route 155 (Watervliet-Shaker Road) before entering Watervliet takes one into Mannville before one enters Stanford Heights. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 148.78.243.25 (talk) 23:59, 18 February 2007 (UTC).
