[edit] Municipality
I checked up on the municipality since it's very close to Mountain Brook and Vestavia. Here are my sources:
- Street Map of Metropolitan Birmingham. (1991) Carto-Craft Maps, Inc. shows it clearly within the blue area designating Homewood.
- The zip code on the Colonial Brookwood Village website is 35209, Homewood, not 35223 for Mountain Brook
- The liquor licenses for Mama Fu's and Cocina Superior, both at Brookwood Village, are being heard in Homewood City Council. ([1]) --Dystopos 06:11, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
From what I know (which merely amounts to original research), the left (NE) side of the mall is within Mountain Brook, while the right (NW) side of the mall is in Homewood. The name is billed as a combination of Mountain Brook and Homewood, which also matches this city split. Having been born and raised in Mountain Brook, AL and a previous employee of Brookwood Village, I know for a fact Mtn. Brook Police patrol and respond to incidents within the NE side of the mall and its parking lots, while the Homewood Fire Marshall and departments respond to situations in the NW side of the mall. I will attempt to find references for this before changing the article, but from my experience, the mall is split between the two cities. AuburnPilottalk 22:16, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- Refs for Mtn. Brook:
- Refs for Homewood
- Homewood Chamber of Commerce (Businesses within the mall are members, but not the mall itself)
- Birmingham Business Journal refers to CBV as located in Homewood
- Refs for both

- When the hotel project was announced, Colonial Properties had to seek approvals from the City of Mountain Brook. So clearly the property does span the municipal border. The maps at my disposal are not fine-grained enough to reveal where on the property the border is located. Presumably somewhere at or northeast of the center, given the liquor license approvals. --Dystopos 23:41, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
