This is considered the second oldest engineerng college in the world.

Yes, I have heard that before but did not include that information because of the lack of proof to support that claim. Was it even an Engineering college in 1794? Also I'm curious to know which is the oldest. I wonder where this practice of "second best" came from. Marina is the second longest beach in the world, Siruvani is the second sweetest water in the world, etc. Maybe its because nobody will bother enough to refute that claim. Jbritto

[edit] Clubs and Technical Symposia

I'm all for including information about them, but are they really more important that details about the college's departments, faculty etc? Also does the rotaract club of CEG need a separate section? Is it not just one of the many clubs in CEG? If you think it is important enough to include in an encyclopaedia, maybe there should be a separate entry for it. Sounds like vanity to me. Do let me know what you think. Jbritto

[edit] Need for Clubs...

Hi..

CEG has only three student development clubs that are REALLY active..

Rotaract Club of CEG, Computer Society and Students Quality Club.. All these club hav members greater than 500 and I guess there's a need to mention about them! After all, Wiki is the place to share knowledge about anything and everything.. Be it wherever and whatever it is in world!

I feel that a short mention of the three clubs (as in just the names) under a section "Clubs" or somesuch should suffice.Jbritto

[edit] External Links / Queer_Anna

Anyone who has any concerns with the external link pointing to Queer_Anna, please voice your concerns here. Do not resort to blind deletion. It is a serious online forum/discussion_group/support_group for LGBT people associated with Anna University. If the arbitrary deletion continues to happen, I would have to resort to arbitration. sundar

I disagree. It is utterly obvious that the the sole purpose of this link is to increase visibility of afforementioned group. While that may be a noble purpose, it's relevance and importance to an article on CEG is close to nil. Please consider adding more relevant information about CEG to the article. Am removing the link, from Anna_University too Jbritto 19:08, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
I disagree (albeit with qualifications) with your assertion. Yes, a major (but not the sole) purpose of the link is to increase visibility of the group. I would like this link to be treated on par with the ones advertising/informing (depends on how you look at it) clubs such as Computer Society, Rotaract Club etc., As evident from your stance regarding those clubs, you seem to prefer just a brief mention. A single link in the external links section is just that -- a brief mention. Since queer_anna is not (yet) registered with the university, I did not post the link under the clubs section. BTW, I added the link again sundar 20:59, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
