The Selected Content for the College football Portal is rotated on a weekly basis. To be nominated, an article must be of high quality (at least a B-class on the assessment scale) and must relate to the topic of college football. A picture must be of high quality and high resolution (at least 800x600 or 600x800) and must also relate to a topic of college football. In addition, a picture must have a free-use license (no fair use images). We will rotate between articles on a specific team or recent player/coach and articles on a concept, play, tradition, or historic figure. During the college football season (from the first week of September to the last week of December), articles will be rotated on a weekly basis. During the offseason, articles will be rotated on a monthly basis.

[edit] Bear Bryant

Do I need to give a reason? ;) Bear Bryant is the most famous coach in college football history and his influence has been tremendous. --BigDT 05:48, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Weak support - the only reason my support is weak is that the article does not have any in-line references. Johntex\talk 09:17, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Weak oppose - I oppose for the same reason as Johntex, no inline citations. And I don't think the references cited can account for all the content. One is a timeline with a few sentences around certain dates; one is a one paragraph bio on the College Football HoF website; one is a summary of his win/loss record; and the last is a link to WikiQuote which, I don't believe, can be used.↔NMajdantalk 16:50, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Lone Star Showdown 2006 Colt McCoy injured.jpg

As a photo, it is not the best picture in the world. However, it shows an interesting side of college football that is not often highlighted - the injurites. Also, it was a significant event for this particular team's season. --Johntex\talk 20:46, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Support- (per above) --Johntex\talk 20:46, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Weak Support - Agree it's a side not often seen, but it's not really a great picture. It would be great to use if we had an article about injuries or something... --MECUtalk 03:57, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Highlighting the injuries is fine ... but maybe we could find something on flickr? This one is way too blurry. --BigDT 05:46, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
It does suffer from camera shake, definitely. Here is an alternate version that is little crisper: Image:2006 Lone Star Showdown Colt McCoy injured.jpg. Johntex\talk 07:52, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
I like this one better, since it shows a player kneeling, the cart, the trainers... I much prefer this one. --MECUtalk 13:54, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Michigan Stadium snow.jpg

This photo has some blemishes, but I think it is still a powerful photo. It shows a vacant Michigan Stadium covered in snow. Isn't this all how we feel in the off-season? It might be good to run it in the middle of summer or else next February as the long "dry spell" is beginning again. The photo is originally from Flikr and it was uploaded to Commons by Xgeorg. I checked Flikr and the license is good.

  • Support (as nominator)Johntex\talk 06:39, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Support --MECUtalk 12:31, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
  • Weak support. I may work on cleaning this one up. I'll see if I can remove the snow falling in the foreground (which is what the flash is focusing on).↔NMajdantalk 16:26, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
