Columbia Pictures (1980s)

This logo began in 1981, with a modernization of the classic Torch Lady. From 1981 to early 1989, the sunburst was a little different. Instead of the sunburst zoom, an exact duplicate of this zoom was used, but it came out of the torch and revealed the words "Columbia Pictures" on either side of the Torch Lady. These words actually flashed on-screen and stopped flashing after a few seconds. From 1989 to 1993, the torch sunburst zoom was gone, and the words "Columbia Pictures" appear on either side of the Torch Lady the minute the logo came on-screen.
