Help:Colon trick

The colon trick is a way of linking to a category on a page without making that page part of that category. By adding a colon in just inside the opening double square brackets of the link, you tell the MediaWiki software to "deactivate" the category link. It will appear, and you can click on it to navigate to the category, but adding this kind of link to the page will not make it appear on the category page.
