Colton Weatherston

Weatherston is a musician, composer, and guitarist from Detroit, Michigan. His recording credits include a CD released on Mack Avenue Records in 2006, "The Hot Club of Detroit", as well as numerous television and radio commercials produced for Detroit's advertising agencies. Highlights from his commercial work include musical arrangements and compositions for Cadillac Motor Company, Bush's Baked Beans, Serta, The United States Post Office, Cheverolet, Eckerd Drugstores, Ford, Chrysler, and Dodge. Weatherston began his career in commercial music in 1997 as an assistant at Stephen Arnold Music in Dallas, Texas following two years of study with Paris Rutherford at the University of North Texas. In 1998, Weatherston became a staff-composer for Brad Music, Inc. in Pleasant Ridge, Michigan. He has worked as a free-lancer for Yessian Music, Ron Rose Productions, Dan Kolton, Elevator Design, and Ozone Sound. In addition to commercial music, Weatherston is active in Detroit's jazz community, performing locally with Marcus Belgrave, James Carter, The Hot Club of Detroit, Odessa Harris and RJ Spangler. Weatherston's affiliations include: ASCAP, The American Musicological Society, Pi Mu Alpha (Omicron Chapter) and The American Federation of Musicians (Local 5).
