Colossus is a science fiction novel written in 1966 by the British author Dennis Feltham Jones. The book was made into a film in 1970 called Colossus: The Forbin Project.

Man creates the ultimate machine... COLOSSUS, and it assumes responsibility for the defence of the free world... but the Russians have developed a near relative, the GUARDIAN... both possessed of unforeseen and frightening side effects... the machines prove capable of free thought... and threats.

  • The world is divided into continental unions such as the U.S.N.A (North America), U.S.E (United States of Europe), the Pan-Afric Republic, the U.S.S.R, and the U.S.S.A (South America).
  • After forcing officers to execute its enemies, Colossus would order their heads to be removed or the bodies to be submerged in its view to ensure no trickery.
  • The Isle of Wight in the English Channel was picked by Colossus for self-development. However, in the movie this was changed to Crete.
