The origins of Richard Crowe are pretty much unknown, but according to the South African military file, he turned at up a Johannesburg orphanage at age 14. When he turned 18, he enlisted in the army, earning rapid promotions and a reputation as a feirce soldier. When he was 25, he was recruited into the South African 32 Battalion, the special forces unit of the South African army. Over the years he began to lead special operations over the border into Mozambique and Angola. The men under his command became fiercely loyal to him and would follow his orders without question. When Aparthied ended in 1994, he was accused of mumerous war crimes and atrocities while in the service. The thought of court martial disgusted him, so he left the SADF at the rank of Colonel. Realizing he was a soldier without a country, he wandered from continent to continent, fighting in countless wars and regional conflicts. During this time, he built up a small but fiercely loyal unit of former special forces soldiers from around the world, eventually naming his group to The Adversity Group. After running several more mercenary operations, he was contracted by Dr. Wilhelm Krieger to guard his island fortress in the Micronesian islands. As Jack Carver and Val Cortez are present on the island, Crowe is forced to take action. He initially contains Carver as to prevent him from causing any unnecessary problems for his employer. However, after Jack destroys several ammuniton depots and eliminates scores of his men, Crowe finally takes actions. Eventually after the mutant breakout, Crowe took the "lizard juice" serum that he injected into Jack, giving him super feral abilites. But Crowe takes 4x as much as Carver. He is later defeated outside of Kreiger's volcano fortress at the hands of Jack Carver.
