The College of New Caledonia (CNC) is a post-secondary educational institution that serves the residents of central British Columbia. The school takes its name from that used for the Hudson's Bay Company district of New Caledonia.
The CNC is the successor to the B.C. Vocational School campus established in Prince George in 1964. The CNC was first established in Prince George in 1969, with its first convocation of 37 graduates occurring in 1971.Historical Highlights
The CNC has since expanded to include campuses in five other communities: Quesnel; "Lakes District" (based in Burns Lake); Mackenzie; "Nechako" (with locations in Fort St. James, Fraser Lake, and Vanderhoof); and Valemount. The school has an approximate annual system-wide enrollment of 5,000 students in career, technical, vocational, and university credit courses.
