CollectiveX is a group engagement network that provides members of a group with a platform for communication and networking. CollectiveX is a closed network, unlike LinkedIn, since there is no way to publicly browse groups or individual member profiles. Any information shared is only available to peers within that group.

CollectiveX was built using open source technologies including Ruby on Rails, MySQL, and Mac OS X.

CollectiveX has sponsored and released a Ruby on Rails plugin called Marshmallow that allows development teams to tie development and deployment processes into a Campfire chat room built by 37signals. This plugin can be used to keep all members of a distributed team informed of events such as Subversion commits, deployments, exceptions in production, and trouble ticket creation and/or modification.
