Collaborative networks

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Collaborative Networks is a new scientific discipline focusing on the structure, behavior, and evolving dynamics of networks of autonomous entities that collaborate to better achieve common or compatible goals.

Collaborative networks manifest in a large variety of forms, including virtual organizations, virtual enterprises, dynamic supply chains, extended enterprises, professional virtual communities, collaborative virtual laboratories, etc.

A large number of projects worldwide have been developing the foundations for this discipline.

One such example is the ECOLEAD project.

A large number of researchers in this area are organized around the non-profit SOCOLNET - Society of Collaborative Networks.
