Colegio Peruano Britanico is a private institution in its 45th year in Lima, Peru designed to meet the needs of aspiring Limeños for English education, and whose creed is inspired by the values and tradition of the British educational system. The school with currently over 600 students was originally based in San Isidro. It is the brainchild of Mary Robinson MBE, an octogenarian who still spends time working at the school. Colegio Peruano Britanico, located in the heart of Monterrico, Lima, is committed to the development of an exciting educational project, which provides students the development and social skills that will encourage peace, freedom and democracy in our society. Colegio Peruano Britanico offers the students the chance to be democratic citizens, fully aware of their skills, knowledge and attitudes, of their identity and values, with the ability to meet the challenges of the future.
Colegio Peruano Britanico offers trilingual education (English, Spanish and French) for boys and girls, taught by specialist teachers. The school is run along standard systems to other schools in Lima and is divided into three distinct areas of education: Early years (3 - 6 years); Primary (6- 12 years); and Secondary (12 - 17 years). In Secondary the International Baccalaureate is taught to a high degree of success.
The College also offers other international exams such as: The Key English Test (KET) The Preliminary English Test (PET) The 1st Certificate in English (FCE) Diplome Etranger de Langue Francaise (DELF) International Baccalaureate Diploma
Colegio Peruano Britanico also believes in complementary and extra-curricular activities such as: Painting, Sculpture, and Ceramics; Music, Choir, and Recorder; Theatre and Dance; Computing and Information Technology; Cooking; Debating; Model United Nations and Stock Market Analysis.
The school is particularly noted for its strong sporting teams and has had considerable inter-school success in recent years in volleyball, basketball, athletics and swimming and chess.
As a result of increased recent investment in technology the Schools infrastructure includes well-equipped, modern multi media classrooms. There are designs to equip every student in secondary with their own Apple Mac laptops and that every classroom should contain their own electronic smart boards. The science labs have just undergone a major overhaul. The library in the school is one of the best stocked English libraries in the whole of Peru. Students are also provided with an excellent workshop in order to carry out art of the most creative kind, including ceramics, sculpture and painting. There are also an Auditorium and an Amphitheatre with specialist sound and lighting equipment. Total internet coverage of the school grounds is 90% complete. Other external facilities include a covered sports hall, an all weather-football pitch, hockey pitch and a 5-a-side football pitch.
