I added the sentence about old pennies still being in circulation. I work in a shop/petrol station in Limerick city, and you'd be surprised how many you'll see - I come across at least one penny a week, posing as a 5c coin. Some of the other employees working there don't seem to notice either, as I often see pennies alreasy in the tills!

I was also astonished last week to see an elderly man pull out of his wallet - among several Euro notes - an old tenner! And it wasn't even the last series of tenners - it was one of the 'series B' ones!! Haven't seen one of those in years... --Zilog Jones 02:15, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the first or one of the first coins issued. Civil war or early republic era, thanks. ANY IFO., even if you think you aren't correct. Thank you very much.
