The Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) is one of the leading DOTE engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu located at Coimbatore, India. It was founded in the year 1956 by V.Rangaswamy Naidu Educational Trust with the aim of disseminating knowledge in the fields of science, engineering and technology.
It is a government aided institution affiliated to Anna University. The Institute was granted autonomous status in the year 1987 and is recognized by the All India Council of Technical Education. It offers both undergraduate as well as post-graduate engineering courses. It was awarded the Accreditation status by the NBA (National Board of Accreditation) in 2005.
Engineering courses offered include Software Engineering,Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology.In addition to this the institution offers courses in Applied Sciences, Computer Technology and Master of Computer Applications.

The college is famous for its cultural festival- Harmony , a three day festival held every year in September. The technical fests conducted in this college namely Cyberfest(for Integrated Courses),[Interface](for Circuit Branches) and Technovation(for non-circuit branches)make the enthusiastic students all over India to take part in it.
Apart from imparting quality technical education, the Institute provides a highly supportive environment for extra-curricular and co-curricular activities to its students. There are more than 15 clubs like The Debating club,The Dramatix club, The space club,The Music club,etc., which are very active and its members have brought many laurels to the college by winning many state and national level competitions.
