Mark Prince (born January 25, 1968 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) is a consumer coffee expert, author, photographer and graphic designer. He majored in Political Science and History at Carleton University, and Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. He currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia, lives with a his fiance, and has no children.
Prince is the current Senior Editor of CoffeeGeek.com, an online magazine and community that promotes quality coffee and espresso through education, discussion and community features. As of December 2005, CoffeeGeek.com currently reaches a diverse audience of 500,000 people a month around the world and is growing rapidly. Visitors to the site are predominantly urban proffesionals between the ages of 23 and 45, with the largest percentage (71%) in the United States.
Prince is a qualified World Barista Championship judge and a United States Barista Championship Judge. He has sat as a committee member with the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA).
He has reviewed consumer espresso and coffee equipment professionally for six years, and many of his articles on equipment are posted at CoffeeGeek.com. Prince is a frequent source for consumer coffee and espresso information for mainstream media. He has been featured in articles in the New York Times, in Fortune Magazine, and across Canada in the Canwest newspaper network. He has been featured on CBC Radio and on regional radio stations such as CKNW.
Prince also produces a podcast in conjunction with the CoffeeGeek website, called the CoffeeGeek Podcast. It has an audience (as of December, 2005) of 10,000 listeners per show, and has a reach around the world.
He also is the Creative Director and a Partner in WebMotif Net Services Inc., a web and software development company in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Prince is also a professional photographer specializing in still life and food photography, his work has been featured in Canwest newspapers, regional magazines including The Straight Living, and Vancouver Magazine, and in trade magazines including Fresh Cup Magazine.
He is currently working on a book called "Espresso in the 21rst Century"; scheduled for publication in the fall of 2006.
