Coffee Republic
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Coffee Republic is a coffee shop franchise chain in the United Kingdom.
Launched by brother and sister Bobby and Sahar Hashemi in 1995, it currently operates more than 90 outlets - mostly in London and the southeast of England with branches elsewhere in Worcester, Birmingham, Chester and Manchester [1].
It once had a higher number of outlets across the United Kingdom but a number of these were sold to other operators such as Starbucks and Caffe Nero due to Coffee Republic making large losses and there was an unsuccessful bid for Coffee Republic by Caffe Nero in 2002 [2].
In October 2006 founder Bobby Hashemi was ousted in a shareholder revolt and the current chairman is Peter Breach. [3]
