[edit] Thanks

Thank you for your copyediting work at Game! Although I don't agree with all of it, it's certainly helped out, and has stimulated me to improve the article's style even further. I've listed you at Wikipedia:Great editing in progress. Seahen 15:38, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Your edit to Superted.

We welcome contributions on Wikipedia which contain factual and correct information. Unfortunately, I had to edit your recent change to the Superted article, since it contained factually incorrect information. In the info box on the right of the page, you placed a flag template against the country of origin, thereby denoting that Superted was originally created in the United States of America. This is wrong. Superted was originally created in the United Kingdom, by the author Mike Young, who now works in the USA. The series is Welsh, and I have therefore changed the flag template to reflect this.

If you wish to discuss this change with me, or have anything pertinent to add, please feel free to contact me. Thor Malmjursson 11:34, 15 October 2006 (UTC) Thor's Multilingual Talk Page

Note to self: triple-check before saving template changes. Simple mistakes can cause big changes. –- CobraWiki

[edit] stub deletion debate

Hmmm... You have a couple questions that I will try to address:

  • rather generic {{tv-stub}}
    • There are indeed much better stubs than this. If it is a TV show, try using {{US-tv-prog-stub}} and its related siblings (UK, Canada, Japan, etc). If it is a station or channel, there is a proposal here to create that. There's also a proposal for regional tv stubs, which should help soon.
  • I skipped many articles because they were already stubbed with above that will be deleted. Does this mean I will need to go back, find all of those articles, and restub them?
    • Well, yes and no. The articles will need to be restubbed, but it's not actually that painful. Alai has a bot that does a lot of automatic restubbing (say a simple rename or a straight deletion) that can do a lot of tedious tasks. There is also a tool called AutoWikiBrowser which helps tremendously with restubbing. It can create a list of "what transcludes here" for example, then you can make your changes, hit save, and it will automatically load the next article in your list. It's a really sweet tool and I recommend it for anyone doing a lot of stub-sorting, since it's a pretty tedious task sometimes.

I hope I was able to answer your questions and if you need anything else, just let me know. Have a great day and happy editing! ~ Amalas rawr =^_^= 23:42, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Game Maker deletions

I think I just missed Seiklus -- I remember opening the article, but I don't remembered evaluating it for deletion. I'll take a look. However, in general it is difficult for fangames and games created with Game Maker to meet the WP:SOFTWARE requirements. Andre (talk) 03:19, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Ah, here's why I didn't nominate Seiklus. It was nominated already quite recently, see Articles_for_deletion/Seiklus. Andre (talk) 03:50, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
For now. I'll get him soon. ;P Andre (talk) 04:13, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Template:User MiB

With respect, your change has been reverted; the entire purpose when I created this was to exactly replicate the quote. Meantime, since most if not all non-project userboxes will be moved to userspace anyway per WP:GUS, feel free to copy this and alter it within your space. :) RadioKirk (u|t|c) 14:56, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] user page skin

It would be totally fine if you used some of the basics of my page on yours. In fact, I got the idea from someone else, but I don't remember who now. If you want some more ideas, you can see what I did for User:btg2290 at his request. Good luck! ~ Amalas rawr =^_^= 22:58, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of beers

Hi. Yes, thanks for getting in touch. It was a major edit - and you are right - it would have been better to have had a prior discussion. My mistake was that I confused it with List of breweries and Beer and nationality - both of which I have been working on for some time, so it didn't appear to me to be a sudden edit. I can see now, that I hadn't done any work on that article since May 2006, when I changed the intro. Anyway - the article as it stood, as you are aware, was a red link farm. And most of the links that did work went to the wrong places. The article was not helpful, was not easy to manage, and was simply encouraging people to list non-notable beers. It should have been proposed for deletion - and it may still get that proposal - but I could see some value in it as a more user-friendly guide to the information and articles that people wanted, than the main Beer and breweries by region category. I take your point about listing beers that Wiki does not currently have articles on. But articles are not the places to post such requests. This is where they should go: Wikipedia:Requested articles. In the meantime, if you wish to browse through a list of over 30,000 beers you may take a look here at RateBeer.com or BeerAdvocate.com. SilkTork 00:39, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

And yes - please, lets open a discussion on the talk page. I am aware others may wish to give their views, and I may be in the minority. SilkTork 00:40, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:BandOfBrothers.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:BandOfBrothers.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. This is an automated message from BJBot 01:28, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Note to self: image was downloaded and re-uploaded by me to change the name because the original filename was non-descriptive. Another member replaced the image with a new one less than a day later and made no notice of this image now being orphaned. There is/was therefore no need to save this image. — CobraWiki ( jabber | stuff )
