Coastal cutthroat trout
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Coastal cutthroat trout is a species of cuttthroat that migrated to the ocean and follows the salmon up the river to spawn and feast upon their eggs. Sea run cutthroat are also bigger than most cutthroat, averaging about 1lb to 10-15lbs. Sadly, the sea run cutthroat has been diminished in the Pacific Northwest. Sea run cutthroat thrive in rivers where they can run to the ocean in a bay where they can mature safely. They feed on insects, fish eggs and small fish. Their survival depends on a healthy salmon run.
